It isn't the best, but one of my favorites is Blue Water Grill in Redondo Beach. I've actually picked it for my birthday before.

I think Todd has the right idea...if I were to go to a nice restaurant in the South Bay, I would take advantage of the fact that we are so close to the beaches. There are alot of really nice restaurants that have awesome views of the water...the Chart House comes to mind as one with an exceptional view and very good seafood. Kincaid's is another seafood restaurant, right on the Redondo Beach Pier...I had the "Warm Brie w/ Macadamia Nut Crust" starter a while back and it was very good.

If you are wanting something different, though, how about a place in Torrance called Musha, a Japanese fusion restaurant where you order a variety of small plates and share. The food is creative, delicious, and the atmosphere is nice enough. I liked the garlic butter clams and the parmesan risotto (it comes in a big hallowed-out parmesan cheese chunk and mixed in it before it's put on your table). On Western and Carson.
