Love it or hate it...the Hermosa Beach Iron Man competition is coming up. Every year in Hermosa Beach, on the 4th of July, 200-300 people (sometimes more) participate in this decades long tradition.

Ironman events:

-mile run on the beach,
-paddling a mile in the ocean
-pounding a 6-pack of beer immediately afterwards

If you're not participating, don't get too close to competitors, they might puke on you.

hi! so what are the details, time, cost, route???? Im down to do it!

well it's not an "official" hermosa beach event...i think everyone who competes just shows up early (like 7am) down on the strand. i could totally be wrong though, i'm really not sure. to be honest, i've never been motivated to wake up that early on a day off for it! anyone out there know the details?

I heard 10 am. Can anyone confirm? Do you need to preregister?

Anyone who wants to brave the ultimate IRON challenge in the world, follow these simple steps.

1. Show up at 29th St. and Manhattan Ave in Hermosa between 9-10am

2. Dont forget your 6 pack.

3. Bring $20.00 for your sign up fee

4. And please do not forget your long board. Alot pf people show up and think its a swim. Its not, its a paddle people. Run, Paddle, Chug!

are full-on paddle-boards cool to race with?
