Default I am looking for a great South Bay apartment!!!

-I have 2 chihuahuas (they are tiny...3lbs)
-I am looking for at least one bedroom (no studios)
-Oceanfront would be nice, but ocean walk is acceptable (no more than 4 blocks)
-I love Ocean Club, I have aerial pix of the property, but what are those other buildings surrounding it? I think it's the Oakwood corporate housing to the right (looking from the water), but what is the grey property to the left & the tan properties behind Ocean Club
-I would like to spend no more than $1500 for a 1 BR & $2000 for a 2BR, but realize that I may need to compromise for oceanfront property.

Some other questions:
-Why are all of the songs that I can find about California about LEAVING California?
-How bad is the traffic...really?
-Is the metro system a viable method of transportation?
-If I want to live in Redondo Beach, and possibly work in Burbank...am I insane?

That's all for now..I'm really excited to move, but don't know a tremendous amout about Cali, any & all help is appreciated!

I ended up using a paid service called WestsideRentals.com to find my apartment.. It's a really good service and I reccommend you to at least do the free search if you can just to see some of the properties you can get info about. It's worth the money if you are really, truly going through with the move soon.. check it out.

Good luck and hopefully you'll make it out here into a great place to live.

South Bay rocks.. See ya.

hi stefany, if you dont find luck on this site finding an apartment, you should also try craigslist.org many south bay apartments are not the big complex type apartments. i have found that most of the best apartments around here are in small 2-20 unit type buildings.

traffic on LA freeways is really bad, especially at commute time. i have even been stuck in traffic at weird times like 11pm. but...it isn't bad in the south bay usually! downtown LA and the westside get much worse traffic, for example.

the metro is viable, but only if you're lucky enough that you live and work near metro stops. (most people don't)

living in redondo and working in burbank is do-able, but be prepared for a LONG commute. (at least 1 hour each way, probably more like 1.5 hours some days) i guess it depends how bad you want to be by the ocean in a nice beach town?

you can find a $1500 one bedroom apartment i think, but just don't expect to be super close to the beach. hope that helps...
